Acrylic, Conté and Pencil on Belgian Linen.
Framed in natural oak.
The Distance We Share is a contemporary abstract painting by Australian artist Caroline Borghetto that explores the subtle tension between closeness and separation. Working with layered acrylic and delicate pencil marks on Belgian linen, Borghetto creates a quiet spatial dialogue where forms lean toward one another while maintaining their own boundaries.
Soft passages of pink intersect with grounded green structures, suggesting both connection and restraint. The composition reflects Borghetto’s ongoing interest in the beauty of imperfection and the traces of lived experience—marks that remain rather than those that are erased.
Through restrained abstraction and thoughtful use of negative space, The Distance We Share considers how we navigate proximity in our relationships and within ourselves. The work sits within Borghetto’s broader practice exploring the balance between control and surrender, structure and vulnerability.
